IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Have a Heart is a volunteer based rescue that functions solely off foster homes and donations. Since our foster animals are all in individuals homes, we arrange appointments to meet the animals only once an adoption application has been submitted and approved. Submitting an application does not commit you to adopting from Have a Heart. But allows us to obtain the information for approval. Once application is submitted and vet reference checked, we require a phone or in person interview before approval. We require an adoption fee, vet reference and a home check. Contact Courtesy postings directly for information about their adoption policies.

Email rescue@haveaheartanimalrescue.com for more information.

Mrs. Chow

Mrs. Chow arrived at BJC Animal Control from another municipality's animal control so we don't have any background history on her. She was very overweight and very scared and shy in her kennel. She stopped eating at the shelter and because of concerns for her health, she was taken from the shelter and fostered. She is a very sweet kitty in her foster home, super snuggly and very loving. She greets her foster parents with a meow in typical Siamese fashion and absolutely loves to be brushed! She is such an adorable and sweet bobtailed lady! Right now, Mrs. Chow does not seem to be a big fan of dogs but her foster mommy is working on gradual introductions. She'll be meeting the other kitties in her foster home gradually too, so stay tuned to see how things are going! She will be a wonderful, loving pet for a nice, calm home.

For more information or to apply to adopt, please email us at rescue@haveaheartanimalrescue.com or download an application for adoption from our site. We require a vet reference, interview and home check for adoption. Adoption fee required.

Gilbert and Geoffrey

Gilbert & Geoffrey: NEED LOVING HOMES: they can be adopted together or separate

Geoffrey is the one with the tail. He is a total love bug once he knows you. He loves to be petted and sometimes even tries to wake you up, if he thinks it has been to long. He has a cute meow but doesn't use it often, but he does like to purr. He has gorgeous markings and his tail is brown at the base and transitions until it is grey at the tip. He thinks he is a mighty hunter, and might hunt your feet that are under the covers.

Gilbert aka "Peanut" aka "Socks" is the bobtail. He is small but very stocky/muscular. He also starts out shy but is sweet as can be. He is not a big fan of being held but does like to be petted. He is also a big hunter and loves to wrestle with my big cat despite the fact that he is less than 1/2 his size. And, when it comes to treats, if the other cats don't eat them quickly, it's fair game to him. He's an expert treat eater and will find the bag if it is anywhere he can get to it.

They are still very close and also get along with all of my cats as well as pretty much ignoring the dogs. They are around 6 months old so they are still very energetic and playful. They have each other so they tend to entertain themselves.

They are fully vetted, current on vaccinations, combo tested negative, dewormed, microchipped and neutered.

KITTENS for adoption

Check out the babies they move around a lot so pictures aren’t the best.  The black & white kitten seems to be the most outgoing – also the best climber.  All are very playful and affectionate – love for you to hold and pet them.  They like kids – I took my 8 year old nephew to see them and they warmed up to him immediately.  They have had their first shots and should be having second round soon.  All are litter box trained.  They were born on March 30 and all are males.  Any help you can provide with finding a good home will be greatly appreciated.

MADISON

Madison is looking for a loving home. Madison was rescued from animal control. Madison is a beautiful tuxedo. She is extremely loving. She loves belly rubs and head pets. She is approximately 2-3 years old. She loves to talk to you when you fix her favorite feast of canned food and curl up on the end of the bed. She likes to play and is quite a calm cat. She loves belly rubs.If anyone is looking for a beautiful kitty to love please contact us. She loves other kitties and will probably do well with dogs as well. She loves to snuggle on the bed with you. And has the cutest noise she makes when she is happy. She will need a little time to adjust to a new home. Which will take patience from a new owner, but I promise she is an amazing kitty and totally worth the short time for her to adjust.. And GORGEOUS!

She combo tested negative, has been spayed and current on all shots including rabies. Adoption fee and vet reference required.

Contact rescue@haveaheartanimalrescue.com for more information.

Willy and Ozzie

These sweet boys are amazing in their own way. Willy is the gray one. Ozzie is a solid orange tabby with black smudge on his back leg and around his gumlines. Both play well together and love other cats and kittens. They are in need of loving homes! They are some of the most beautiful fosters I have ever had. They are both really big cats. These are older photos.  They love to snuggle with you especially while you are sleeping. And love water. (Ozzie is curious, AND needs lots of patience, he doesn't really want to be held, sometimes he wants to be pet but rarely, he just wants to sleep by you and around you and play and loves the toys like laser light and feathers. He loves other cats though. Willy the gray one is ALL about the attention but he doesn't like to be picked up/held either. But will knock others out of the way to get some petting/love. When he experiences change he gets very scared and will howl. But is so loving and amazing.

They are current on fvrcp vaccinations, been dewormed and combo tested negative. They are given monthly flea prevention every month. They have both been neutered and are current on rabies shots.

Church Cat ***Courtesy Post*** CONTACT: jpotts@gghblaw.com

Picture
My wife and I adopted Church Cat in August of 2009.  She was starving and hanging around our church in the Lakeview area of Birmingham (hence the name).  I couldn’t resist taking her because despite her alley cat appearance, she genuinely loved human companionship.  We took her in, got her up to date on her shots, and she has had a perfect bill of health since.  She is a natural lap cat, but she likes to have fun as well.  She is potty trained for the outdoors.
She is about 3 years old. She is very playful and affectionate with all age groups.  She is spayed and up to date on all shots. She has been a great pet, but my 18 month old son is more than likely allergic to her.

OPHELIA

Ophelia was born outside in the cold and rescued, along with her momma and siblings, the day they were born. She is a few years old. She is a little shy at first but otherwise well socialized and uses the litter box with no problems! She loves to play and purrs like an angel. She is my water bug, she loves the water. She is up-to-date on shots, including rabies and dewormed. She has been spayed.
She squeaks when she wants attention and to be petted. She loves to play with the lazer light and in cat nip.

Adoption fee, vet reference and home check required. For more information please contact Allison at rescue@haveaheartanimalrescue.com

JULIE  very loving but needs LOTS of patience to re-adjust

This one named Julie is a couple years old now. She is being fostered in Birmingham AL. She was found on a grocery store parking lot looking for bugs to eat. She loves to be pet and snuggle. She talks to you when she wakes in the morning and is hungry. (not crying, but talks- it is so cute). Julie is up-to-date on all shots including rabies and has been spayed. She likes other kitties. She plays and plays. She was so shy when I first got her, she has definitely come out of her shell and will make a wonderful companion. She will talk to you if you spend enough time with her. She will lay down to have her belly rubbed and curl up in your lap to fall asleep. She loves to snugle on the bed with you. She is a small cat. She will be extremely shy at first and hide, but will come around eventually if someone shows patience towards her.  She has come around for me. It took a year for her to be my best friend. She does still hide on occasion. But mostly when others are in our home. But she talks to me and snuggles with me.

Vet reference and home check required. Adoption fee.
